Dream scored as Molde crushed Häcken
Molde got off to a dream start in their Europa League match against Häcken. Just five minutes had passed when Fredrik Gulbrandsen received the ball in the box and rounded the goalkeeper with a safe finish.
Not long after, Lamin Sonko entered the field from the edge and set his sights on. In beautiful fashion, he equalized, through the post and in.
But this was Molde’s night, at home at Aker Stadium. And within four minutes midway through the first half, they almost ended the game.
First, Magnus Wolff attacked Eikrem’s sledgehammer and unleashed a hard and precise ground cruiser. The ball flew into the corner, out of reach of the goalkeeper. Four minutes later it was Emil Breivik’s turn to shine. From a difficult angle, he cheerfully curled a shot into the goal via the far post.
After the break, Wolff Eikrem made it 4-1 with a gem of a free kick. Eikrem surprised many, including goalkeeper Häcken, when he fired a shot instead of a cross, and the ball went over the crossbar.
In extra time, Martin Bjørnbak scored 5-1 and the humiliation for Per Mathias Høgmos Häcken was complete.
– That’s important. Now we are going to Häcken again in two weeks. Then there are possibly a few more points. Then there’s the next thing, Eikrem told Viaplay.
Molde are 3rd with three points in their group in the Europa League after tonight’s win. At 21:00 Leverkusen and Qarabag meet, both on six points after two games.
