“When Andreas and I were at the finish line three years ago and he said that it was one of the most beautiful races of his life, I could see the emotion in that moment that he meant it sincerely,” recalled Jizerská 50 organizer Richard Valoušek.
Nygaard still has the highest ambitions, even considering his overall ranking in the Ski Classic. “Last year I came second, the aim was to perform as well as possible. “If I train what I have, stay healthy and avoid injuries, I’m not too old to be able to fight for the yellow jersey,” said the 32-year-old player. -one year old Norwegian.
This season, he will also attempt to conquer the 220 kilometer distance at Nordenskioldsloppet. “It’s a little crazy, but I’m a little crazy too,” Nygaard added with a small smile.
The first edition of the Jizerská 50 took place in 1968. In the 1970s, the race gained popularity, and almost eight thousand participants took part in the tenth edition. Since 1999, this race has been included in the world long-distance running league Worldloppet, and top Czech and world athletes participate in it. Since 2011, it has also been part of the Classic Ski series.
As part of the 50th race, there are also several accompanying races: 25 km classic, 30 km free technical and short distance for children or CT Jizerská desítka. ČT sport and ČT sport Plus will return to broadcasting live.
