International Success on ‘World Cities Days’
At the invitation of the International Federation for Family Development, Marshal Piotr Całbecki participated in the United Nations World City Day, where he gave a speech on the role of local governments in activities for the benefit of the family; He also shared his experience regarding the assistance our region provides to refugees from Ukraine.
The Conference “Sustainable Efforts to Build Inclusive, Safe and Resilient Urban Areas” was held on October 26 at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
Among the participants of the meeting were, among others, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Poland to the United Nations, Ambassador Krzysztof Szczerski, as well as representatives from our Italian partner region Veneto, the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs and the United Nations Program for Human Settlements, as well as the Institute for Family Policy Analysis in Mexico, the ELISAN network of non-governmental organizations and the University of Nove de Julho in Brazil.
During the event, an International Federation for Family Development (IFFD Award) award ceremony was also held – the award given to the local government of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Province (for consistent pro-family social policies) was received by Marshal Piotr Całbecki .
The IFFD Award is a prestigious international award in this segment of social policy. The International Federation for Family Development (IFFD), which awards it, is one of the largest global civil society organizations with general consultative status on the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
