In the showjumping team’s own podcast, “Hoppcast”, Halvor Egner Granerud recounted that he was muzzled by the Norwegian association after speaking out critically against the weekend showjumping organizers in the NRK case.
He said the Norwegian camp had received a response from FIS that they did not like the criticism.
However, when facing NRK on Tuesday night, Granerud was somewhat moderate.
– I have not received a clear message that I have been muzzled, but an invitation to take action internally and not externally. I understand it, Granerud told NRK.
– From the Norwegian camp?
– Yes. We try to create some humor in the podcast.
Granerud said he still believed the criticism he leveled after the race was justified.
– We had a lot of emotions, and for me and Robert (Johansson, editor’s note) half the weekend was ruined. Sundal also had an unpleasant experience. After all, ski jumping is an extreme sport, and while you think things are scary, they are actually very scary.
National team coach Magnus Brevig admitted that he did not want to muzzle his athletes.
– I don’t really remember what we talked about. “We were just talking about the fact that this is an outdoor sport and situations like that could arise,” Brevig told NRK.
– If I thought jumping at a green light was dangerous, I wouldn’t forbid them, he said.
Brevig claims there has been no communication from FIS that the Norwegian athlete crossed the line.
