Kalfoss becomes head of cross-country skiing

The Norwegian Ski Association confirmed the selection of Kalfoss on Monday. He will be given sporting responsibility for the national team.

“With a tingling in my stomach, I look forward to working with and learning from one of the strongest performance cultures in sport, where a special ability to reproduce success from championship to championship has been demonstrated,” Kalfoss said in a press release.

The work is internal. Kalfoss has held various roles at NSF since 1998.

– A strong motivating factor for entering this interesting position is being able to continue the work of strengthening the common thread in the development of Norwegian cross-country skiing, says the 50-year-old from Trysil.

Kalfoss will report to Bjervig and be part of his management team.

– With overall responsibility for the sporting operations of all cross-country national teams, I – with my good knowledge of Per Elias – believe that his qualities and attitude will contribute to the development in a team of highly complementary and skilled coaches, which together will achieve new destination for Norway as the best cross-country ski country in the world, says Bjervig.

The cross-country manager stated earlier this year that his job is sometimes too broad for one person. Therefore, tasks are now filtered into administrative and sporting roles.

Kalfoss was an active combined runner of his time.
