New commission of inquiry
PO leader Donald Tusk announced the creation of a committee investigating the so-called general election, the visa scandal and the Pegasus case, as well as the dismissal of the Russian influence committee.
Giertych knew Kaczyński well
When asked if Roman Giertych was the right person to hold PiS accountable, Kierwiński replied: “A very good lawyer. Certainly the perfect person to hold PiS accountable, because he knows PiS perfectly, because he knows perfectly the mechanisms in place. is in power in PiS and he also knows Jarosław Kaczyński very well.
“Knowledge of Kaczyński’s style of thinking, PiS’s style of thinking, could be very valuable, for example in the case of this investigative commission,” said PO MP.
When asked what Giertych’s role would be in holding PiS to account, he replied: “I believe Roman Giertych is very well suited to work on one of these committees.”
When asked whether Giertych could become the PiS government’s accountability coordinator in the Sejm, he said: “I read in the media that you speculate that there will be such a person. I think this coordination will be at the level of cooperation between the clubs that make up the government coalition, or at club head level.”
“These three commissions are the most obvious and the most surprising – Prime Minister Donald Tusk spoke yesterday about Pegasus. This is something that cannot be talked about – the Polish government used cybernetic weapons against Polish citizens. That must be accounted for. This is something like a global scandal. We are talking about elections, I don’t think anyone would argue that we are dealing with illegal attempts to hold elections, and also a visa scandal. (…) Here, what is meant is not the scandal itself, although shocking and embarrassing, that is the most important thing, but how the state and the services under Mr. Morawiecki and Mr. Kaczyński covered up this scandal,” stressed the politician.
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and ministers before the investigative commission
PO MP included the names of former ministers in Mateusz Morawiecki’s government who he said should appear before the investigative commission into the cover of the 2020 election.
“Morawiecki must be summoned because of the two shameful regulations he signed. Kaczyński – for his leadership in this matter – of course he must be summoned. Sasin – for the way he supervised the State Treasury companies – must be summoned. The President is such a person who does not make decisions in matters “he is, however, a beneficiary of the decision, or should be a beneficiary of the decision,” said Kierwiński.
“Today I think Mr. Morawiecki, Mr. Sasin, Mr. Kaczyński, President of PWPW, President of Poczta Polska should run today,” he said.
He also determined that the members of this committee were tasked with preparing a list of names of people who would provide explanations to the agency.
Jacek Kurski’s uncertain future
Kierwiński was also asked whether it would be possible to withdraw Jacek Kurski’s candidacy at the World Bank and his return to Poland. “I think Kurski should not go there. After all, Kurski has nothing to do with banking. (…) We have to do everything to make Kurski come back here, and I think he should come back here. When the settlement begins, this also, “What happens on public television, what happens with public television properties, I think Jacek Kurski will also have to face the state authorities, who will ask what he is doing,” Kierwiński said.
What’s next for the National Bank of Poland?
When asked whether NBP President Adam Glapiński would be taken to the State Court, Kierwiński said: “We stated it very clearly, Prime Minister Donald Tusk also spoke about it, and I personally believe that the president violated the National Bank Act of Poland.”
According to him, Glapiński is not independent and is guided by the interests of his own political formation.
