The labor dispute with Rune Almenning Jarstein has been resolved
Rune Almenning Jarstein and Hertha Berlin have settled outside the legal system after a protracted labor dispute, the German club told DPA.
The news came hours after Bild learned that Hertha had offered Jarstein compensation of more than 400,000 euros. This is equivalent to approximately NOK 4.6 million at current exchange rates.
This amount is higher than the proposal put forward by a court in Berlin recently. The parties were then asked to enter into a settlement that would award Jarstein approximately NOK 3.8 million.
Telemarkingen claims totaled 5.6 million. Hertha did not confirm the newspaper’s information about the amount of money, but said in a statement that it had found a solution.
– Given Rune Jarstein’s long career at Hertha Berlin, the parties would like to take this into consideration and resolve the legal dispute amicably, the club said in a statement to news agency DPA.
Hertha emphasized that the parties still have different views regarding this matter. Jarstein joined the club in 2014.
Last year the goalkeeper announced a lawsuit when Hertha terminated his contract less than a year before it expired on June 30 this year.
The Norwegian was suspended by the club after an argument with the goalkeeping coach, and it was later decided to terminate the contract. Jarstein believes he was not given any reasonable justification.
This caused him to choose to go to court to obtain financial compensation. The case has been postponed several times, but last month the parties met in court. (NTB)
