— President Andrzej Duda entrusted me with the mission of creating a new government. A difficult mission, perhaps the most difficult I have ever faced, but contrary to what the bad guys think, it is not “mission impossible”. Even if it were, I don’t rule out the possibility that I would do it too, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said in a podcast published on Facebook on Sunday.
He noted that a politician cannot freely decide whether he wants to face “such a challenge.” He added that “the electoral mandate requires us to fulfill the promises made to voters.” As he emphasized, Poland “showed Law and Justice as the winner of the last elections.”
Signal from Poland
— Poland guaranteed PiS the second best election results in the history of the Third Polish Republic and this is an extraordinary achievement. And at the same time, they send us a simple signal: this time you should get along with other people. They send the same signal to all other political forces. There is no dominant party in parliament today that has the right to decide everything, without regard to other parties, the Prime Minister said.
— More than 7.5 million Poles voted directly for the continuation of the rule of Law and Justice. More than 12 million Poles took part in the referendum and indicated that the directives set by the Law and Justice government should be implemented in every subsequent government, the head of government added.
In the Prime Minister’s opinion, ignoring these signals means that “democracy is not being taken seriously by everyone.” As he also emphasized, all new MPs have a “tough task” ahead of them.
“We have to get out of the bubble of our political imagination”
— We need to get out of our political imagination and face the real expectations of Polish society. Ask yourself: does Poland want us to continue old disputes from the start of the new term or look for an agreement that allows us to implement fundamental issues. What I mean here is the continuation of social programs initiated by the PiS government, but these programs have become an inherent standard for most of Polish society. What I mean here are large investment projects such as the construction of the CPK or the construction of the Polish nuclear power plant – said Morawiecki.
He admitted that in the “real sense” no one was asked during the election to continue such activities, but post-election polls showed such a desire from voters. He added that experts in the field are also “inclined to move forward with the plan.”
— White and red flags will fly over all these investments, not the flag of Law and Justice. So attempts to eliminate it are simply crimes containing anti-democratic elements, says Mateusz Morawiecki.
“Our children and grandchildren will not forgive us for this.”
He stated that Poland is currently among the leading countries that “can become a basis for building a new European order.” He added that in a generation “we have moved from the European reserve position to the quarterback prospect position in Europe, and perhaps even in some world markets.”
