The center on Belehradská Street is run by the Mental Health Care organization. It helps people with mental illnesses such as schizophrenia or severe chronic depression. Clients can spend their free time there. The center is freely accessible on Tuesday afternoons and Friday mornings, other times of the week by arrangement with staff.
“Given the fact that the facility has grown to include medical staff and, above all, significantly increased the number of clients, it was necessary to increase the capacity of the central premises as well,” said Deputy Mayor Jakub Rychteck.
There are new offices, consulting rooms and psychiatric offices, as well as a day center where clients can come, meet other people and, if necessary, wash and do their laundry.
Workers with clients deal with the treatment of diagnosed illnesses as well as personal development, building self-confidence, building relationships, and returning to leisure and work activities. The team also works closely with the client’s immediate environment, their doctor or other experts and institutions, said the head of the centre, Artem Vartanyan.
“We offer clients support in a place where they feel safe, ideally at home. So that he doesn’t have to be admitted to a hospital or other facility immediately. We can contact him several times a day, we don’t cut contact even while he is in hospital, ” said Jan Rybička, a social worker from the center.
Pardubice supports the center with subsidies for this year and next year, will receive a total of 621,200 crowns. He gave 1.5 million crowns for the reconstruction of the town hall. The establishment of a mental health center is based on the Psychiatric Care Reform Strategy and its goal is to integrate people with long-term mental illness into their daily lives. Prague Center was founded in 2019.
