Mateusz Morawiecki said in interview with Dorota Kania, editor-in-chief of Polska Pressduring the XXXI Economic Forum in Karpacz that in 1953 no official document on the reparations decision appeared, no agreement between Poland and Germany.
Repair from Germany. Mateusz Morawiecki: No waiver
– In 1953 there was no submission, there was a note in “Trybuna Ludu” the day after the alleged meeting of the Council of Ministers. The Council of Ministers is not the body authorized to make decisions, he said. – Just a press release. If anyone wants to build a legal argument on the press release of “Trybuna Ludu”, good luck – he added.
Morawiecki stated that “Poland was the country most damaged by Germany, which lost the largest number of its inhabitants,” and the losses meant that it could not develop normally after the war. The prime minister said that reporting on war losses was a basic step to restore justice. The head of government expressed confidence that Poland would see reparations paid.
– Today, Germany paid Namibia for the genocide between 1904 and 1908. If you can pay after 120 years, we will be waiting for you too. It will be a long road. Don’t let anyone rely on money that is coming soon. They have material and moral value, said the Prime Minister.
