Liverpool’s goal celebration against Dønnum’s Toulouse
Liverpool picked up their third win from a possible three wins in the Europa League. French Toulouse with Aron Dønnum in the team was beaten comfortably 5-1.
Jürgen Klopp’s men bounced back from two wins and could quickly claim a full pot of points in the group, which also includes Belgium’s Union Saint-Gilloise and Austria’s LASK.
Diogo Jota set the standard from the start when he slipped elegantly past the opposition defense to make it 1-0 before ten minutes had passed.
However, five minutes later, Thijs Dallinga managed to equalize to make it 1-1. He almost avoided the offside trap on Aron Dønnum’s pass and certainly scored.
Liverpool regained the lead in the game when Wataru Endo headed the ball into the net to make it 2-1 when the midfield anchor came into the attack following a corner kick.
VAR must check whether Darwin Núñez’s 3-1 goal was correct. Nunez got the ball in his body as a result of Curtis Jones’ shot while shooting. There were suspicions of foul play, but VAR found no reason to blame him.
Ryan Gravenberch made it 4-1 when he alerted Darwin Núñez’s shot that hit the post in the 65th minute.
Dønnum went ahead once in the 2nd half before he was substituted after 68 minutes.
Mohamed Salah finished the goal ball to make the score 5-1 in extra time.
LASK of Linz takes a 1-0 lead away to Belgium’s Union Saint-Gilloise at Moses Usor. Cameron Puertas contributed a late equalizer for the hosts. (NTB)
