Napoli crush Liverpool 4-1 in Champions League – NRK Sport – Sports news, results and broadcast schedule

After five minutes, the nightmare began for Liverpool, as they fell behind to Napoli after a penalty by Piotr Zielinski.

The next half was an embarrassing affair for the Merseyside team.

– Everything is clear. Why it happened I can not answer now. It looks like we have to find ourselves again, said Jürgen Klopp in an interview aired on TV 2.

– It’s very hard to accept. The two penalties were rather unfortunate and the next two goals we conceded will be served on a silver platter.

Because in the 47th minute the visitors ended up trailing 0-4 against Napoli. Just after 49 minutes the reductions came for Luis Diaz and Liverpool – but it was just a microscopic patch on the wound.

Think PL competitors accept

The first round in particular was heavily criticized by experts:

– Liverpool are two goals down and Napoli miss a penalty. What’s up?, Gary Lineker’s signature Twitter.

It was just half an hour into the first half, and soon after Napoli made it 3-0 against what looked like desperate Liverpool.

– Haven’t seen many games worse than this one under Klopp. Defensive mess, former Liverpool man Jamie Carragher also in Twitter after the first round.

– Liverpool is so bad. They brought a bad start in the Premier League with them here. Structurally, they are not connected, they are taken completely, said TV 2 expert Morten Langli at the break.

Jürgen Klopp also believes that his next opponent in the Premier League may have accepted a humiliating defeat against Napoli.

– We have to play again in three days against Wolverhampton. If the Wolves saw tonight’s game, they wouldn’t stop laughing and would say it was the right time, said Klopp.

He went on to say that Liverpool now have to improve almost everything.

After six games played in the Premier League, Liverpool are in seventh place, after just two wins, three draws and one defeat.

Overpass for 45 minutes

As much as Liverpool received criticism, Napoli received much praise for their performance.

They only played havoc at the start, said TV 2 pundit Solveig Gulbrandsen after the game.

He pointed out that several important players in the first half were then substituted, but Napoli continued to press.

Liverpool immediately rose since the referee started the match. Napoli had their first big chance before minutes played, and continued to race towards Liverpool’s goal.

After five minutes, the penalty was awarded to the hosts. A shot from Piotr Zielinski hit James Milner’s outstretched hand and referee Carlos del Cerro quickly decided. Zielinski himself scored to change the score to 1-0 for Napoli.

Just over ten minutes later, del Cerro pointed to the penalty spot again. This time after traveling to the sidelines to see the VAR screen. The pictures show Virgil van Dijk stomping on Victor Osimhen, who had the ball first.

Osimhen lined up at eleven yards, but this time Allison Becker had the ball and made it 2-0.

But Liverpool couldn’t prevent 2-0 for long. After half an hour of playing at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, the visitors returned to play. Zielinski played the ball into the box and parked the Liverpool defence, before André-Frank Anguissa slotted the ball past Becker.

The third blow to Liverpool’s stomach came just before halftime. Giovanni Simeone, son of Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone, made it 3-0 for Napoli and the hosts received a loud cheer on their way to the dressing room after the opening 45 minutes.

But the cannon against Liverpool’s goal did not stop. After the break, Napoli went straight 4-0, after Zielinski scored his second goal of the night.

Liverpool’s reduction is also coming to an end. Two minutes after Zielinski made it 4-0, Luis Diaz hit a long-range shot to make it 1-4. However, it was the first and last for the all-red.

Norway’s Leo stigård, who plays for Napoli, had to settle for watching the game from the bench.
