Fiorentina beat Vetlesen and Club Brugge
Antonio Nusa and Hugo Vetlesen were on the bench from the start for Club Brugge in their Serie Liga semi-final against Fiorentina. Away, the Belgian club sometimes experienced difficulties, although it only ended in a one-goal defeat against the Italian club.
The first cold shower occurred after just four minutes. The home team’s Riccardo Sottil broke free beautifully in the corner of the 16 meter area and scored the star goal. Brügge goalkeeper Nordin Jackers couldn’t stop his shot.
However, in the 16th minute of the match, the visitors responded with a penalty from Hans Vanaken.
But Andrea Belotti put Fiorentina ahead again ten minutes before halftime.
In the second half, Brugge had even more difficulties when Raphael Onyedika was sent off. After two yellow cards in three minutes, a red card came for the Nigerian club player.
But with ten men on the field, Igor Thigao almost single-handedly made it 2-2 just minutes later.
– A very strong performance, exclaimed Viaplay commentator Jørgen Klem.
In the 78th minute, Hugo Vetlesen entered the field, while Antonio Nusa was a substitute player who was not used by the Belgian team.
Vetlesen watched as M´bala Nzola grabbed the match-winner in extra time after heavy Italian pressure towards the end of the match. The final score was 3-2.
In the second semi-final, Aston Villa experienced difficulties in the first half against Olympiakos, including in front of Prince William in the stands. Before half an hour had been played, the Greek away team had gone 2-0 up against the only team from the Premier League, which reached the semi-finals of one of the European Cups.
Watkins reduced the home team’s deficit just before halftime. And when Diaby scored after 51 minutes of play, the score was level between the teams. But it didn’t last long. First, Ayoub El Kaabi scored 3-2 from the penalty spot before Hezze added it to make it 4-2. The match ended soon.
The second match will be played next week.
