It came in the arena where the men were crushed 0-4 by Hungary in the national league on Tuesday.
England are favorites in Norway’s EC group and are now unbeaten in 12 games under Dutch national team manager Sarina Wiegmann. The team squandered chances in the first half, but Wiegmann made it through with a substitution and saw two substitutes score the first.
After 62 minutes, Chloe Kelly came on for Lucy Bronze. He cut onto the pitch and fired at goal through the legs of Amber Tysiak.
Four minutes later, there was a pinball game on the field after a corner kick. Leah Williamson’s shot was blocked, but Rachel Daly snatched the rebound into the net.
Both Kelly and Daly came in at recess.
Patient
83 minutes of the game, Belgian goalkeeper Nicky Evrard swiftly ran past WIlliamson and saved the goalkeeper!
– We dominated the game and created a lot of chances, but didn’t manage to score before half-time. We just give them a chance. During the break, I asked for more racing, and patience,” Wiegmann told ITV.
He particularly highlighted Kelly, who joined the European Championship squad after battling back from a serious knee injury.
– It’s great to be back in the national team, and also fantastic to score goals, said the Manchester City player himself.
Meet Norway
Belgium are in Norway’s World Cup qualifying group. Norway beat Belgium 4-0 at Ullevaal last fall and therefore World Cup tickets are deep in their pockets before this fall’s final.
Norway meet England in Brighton on July 11. England will return to warm-up games against the Netherlands in Leeds on June 24 and against Switzerland away on June 30, before the team meet Austria in their opening European Championship match at Old Trafford on July 6.
Norway played its first game against Northern Ireland at Southampton the following day.
