Stefan Kraft took the lead after the first lap
Stefan Kraft is aiming for a fourth straight World Cup win in vaulting and leads heading into the final in Lillehammer
Marius Lindvik was the best Norwegian mare in the first round of the men’s big hill at Lillehammer.
– This was a very good ski jump in difficult conditions, said NRK expert Johan Remen Evensen from the commentator’s booth.
Lindvik was clearly the best Norwegian player with his ranking of 6th, which was arguably a disappointing round on home soil for Norway.
– I feel happy. “The conditions were tough and I felt I made a good jump, so I was hopeful and advanced to the second round,” Marius Lindvik told NRK.
Lindvik was 9.3 points behind Stefan Kraft of Austria, who led before the final round, with a jump of 135 meters. Followed by Jarl Hörn and Karl Geiger in 2nd and 3rd place respectively.
Thus, German-Austrian dominance among male jumpers continued.
Halvor Egner Granerud couldn’t run it during the day. On Sunday, he jumped 119 meters in the first round. It placed 22nd.
– I felt safe when I landed that I could pack up the car, head towards Trondheim and watch the rest of the second leg somewhere else, but it wasn’t like that. This is surprising, Granerud told NRK.
Kristoffer Sundal jumped to 21st, Daniel Andre Tande in 24th and Johann André Forfang in 27th.
– Good effort. They have tried their best, but the results are not what we expected. We have to find out what it takes to get the best horses from Halvor, Daniel and Johann. They were well behind their best, jumping manager Clas Brede Bråthen told NRK after the first round.
Robin Pedersen, Bendik Heggli, Fredrik Villumstad and Robert Johansson did not qualify for the final round.
