News In connection with Earth Day which is celebrated every year on April 22, over the weekend in cities in Poland, Youth Climate Strike organizes a number of opening events for the “Choose the Climate!” campaign.
The aim of this action is to invite all political parties to adopt postulates which are very important for the future of our planet:
– investment in RES and nuclear energy
– stay away from fossil fuels, especially gas and coal
– climate education in schools
– subsidies for thermal modernization
– environmental protection and biodiversity.
Protesters want our political representatives to understand that climate and environmental protection is one of the most important challenges of our time. That’s why they call on everyone to join the mobilization and jointly contribute to changing our reality.
“Climate change is already having a real impact on our planet and future generations, therefore climate must be one of the main topics of the upcoming election campaign. Power can no longer pretend not to see us. The climate crisis is a tragedy that will befall everyone, especially the younger generation. That’s why we – young people – want to remind you that we need responsible climate policies and a just transition. Youth Climate Strike (MSK) is a social movement working for climate protection. It is part of a global mobilization called Fridays For Future, which was created by people who are fighting the passivity of the government in the face of the climate crisis.
On Wednesday, April 12, activists from Youth Climate Strike in Rzeszów visited the town hall to present Mayor Konrad Fijołek and his deputies with an invitation to a protest, which will take place this Friday, April 21 under the slogan “Choose Climate!”. The aim of the campaign, which started this Friday, is to draw attention to the problem of climate disaster and invite political parties to include this issue in their electoral programmes.
Therefore, the activists announced that politicians from the regions would soon receive invitations. There is a very local accent in the five main propositions of decision makers. As part of protecting the environment and biodiversity, MSK demands the establishment of the Turnicki National Park, which emphasizes that existing forests and water resources must be protected as best as possible.
