PSL wants a commission for reparations. Kosiniak – Kamysz: The government should adopt some of our moves
Meanwhile, the PSL announced it wanted to set up an extraordinary commission to control the government’s actions to obtain reparations from Germany. This is the second most important topic in the work of MPs in the coming days.
– We believe that pursuing these claims is necessary, but true, and not for the public. If the government really wants compensation from Germany, it has to accept some of our requests. It’s kind of a saying – I check my intentions. Is it just about political theatre, about playing for the public, playing with emotions, or about real efforts to solve this problem – said the leader of the People’s Party, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, at a press conference in Seym.
The head of the PSL announced that Senator Kazimierz Micha Ujazdowski would submit a proposal to establish an extraordinary commission to control government activities in order to obtain compensation from the Federal Republic of Germany.
It will be led by Władysław Teofil Bartoszewski. Bartoszewski himself believes that all Poles agree that we are entitled to compensation from Germany. – Our resolution design is different because we see it pragmatically, practically and realistically. Because there is no legal way to get reparations from Germany. No international court will take Poland’s case against Germany in terms of reparations – said MP, quoted by TVP.
First reading of the draft resolution on reparations at the foreign affairs committee in the Sejm
On Wednesday, lawmakers began work on a draft resolution in Poland seeking reparations for the damage caused to Germany during World War II. It was prepared by the deputy for Law and Justice.
Law and Justice MP Arkadiusz Mularczyk stressed that the Germans, despite the huge losses they inflicted on Poland during World War II, did not take into account the consequences of such actions. He stated that the Sejm would try to organize this matter systematically.
In the draft, the Sejm called on the German government to firmly assume political, historical, legal and financial responsibility for the consequences for the Republic of Poland and its citizens as a result of the outbreak of World War II by the German Third Reich. At the same time, it is emphasized that Poland has never received compensation for personal and material losses caused by the German State.
“The Republic of Seym Poland declares that the Polish State duly represented has never relinquished its claims against the German State. Claims that these claims have been legally withdrawn or time-limited have no basis, neither moral nor legal. “- stored in the project.
