On Monday, the cross-country stop presents the selection of the national team. In the women’s team, nine of the eleven national team players last season have regained confidence. Ragnhild Haga had surrendered, while Anna Svendsen was the only one crushed.
Enter Ingvild Flugstad Østberg.
Silje Theodorsen and Margrethe Bergane were among the runners who knocked hard on the door, but were left out of place despite good results at this winter’s World Cup.
The draw was a major disappointment for Theodorsen and Svendsen.
– I’m very disappointed, I have to be honest. I hope that I am one of the names on the team presented, said Theodorsen to iTromso.
– You’re a little helpless, and there’s not much you can do about the message. I feel like I’m having my best season and I’m doing well enough to be part of the team. “With the development I have, I think I will get the chance to be part of the national team,” he continued.
Svendsen, for his part, doesn’t fully understand the rationale for managing the national team.
– The reasons I get are mainly due to my lack of top results. I have no problem seeing it, because I lack it. “I want to be in some sprint finals and higher on the list there,” said Svendsen to iTromso and continued:
– At the same time, it’s boring when I’m the only one who leaves the team. I’m not the only one who lost the top score. This goes for some people, so it’s funny that they vote for me. There are slightly different criteria for different runners, and that’s hard to accept.
Neither Svendsen nor Theodorsen know which team they will follow for next season and how the return on investment will be.
