“Queen of the world”. The last king like that

A special edition of Polityka will be released on September 14, devoted to Queen Elizabeth II: Queen of the World. His death ended the era of a leader synonymous with his country.

When Elizabeth II’s son and successor, Charles III, wrote in an official statement: “I know that his loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Kingdom and the Commonwealth of Nations, and by many people around the world,” he was guided not only by manners and he is not exaggerating. Never in the history of modern media has one woman dominate almost all news, headlines and covers.

“I don’t know the formula for success,” said the British monarch at the coronation, but over the decades he has managed to develop a recognized style of government. This death ends the era of a leader who is synonymous with his country.

Queen Elizabeth is able to distinguish the interests and welfare of the state from those of the ruling parties, which are changing from the mandate of the ruling democracy: the left and the conservatives. He kept his distance, although he had political sympathies, generally traditionalist. At the same time, as the burden of experience increased as a result of his duties as Head of State of the United Kingdom and Head of the British Commonwealth, he was able to recognize and recognize that times were changing.

A Christian, head of the Anglican Church, sincerely attached to this tradition, does not oppose the traditions of other religions. He believed that he should protect all legal recognition, not just state denominations. It did not attack from the decentralized throne of the country, increasing the self-government of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. It chronicled the government’s decisions in the Falklands, the Afghanistan and Iraq wars, Brexit and assistance to Ukraine fighting Russian aggression. He came to power when Prime Minister Winston Churchill died shortly after his official meeting with Boris Johnson’s successor, Liz Truss, the third woman to hold this position in British history. At this point no one in politics can match Elizabeth in many personal experiences. Today’s leaders can learn from their responsibility for an independent, law-abiding and democratic state, namely a pluralist state. To most Britons, she is the national ‘mother and grandmother’ who, in times of trouble, provides a sense of stability and continuity, unites, does not divide and exclude. He turned out to be the embodiment, symbol and pride of the British people.
