Radniční Kindergarten in Havířov guides children along a natural path to ecology, preparing them for real life, for example by not being afraid of visiting hospitals. The kindergarten can also be proud of the World Schools 2023 award. The project focuses on global topics and created the slogan learn – discover – act. This year, the kindergarten chose a fair trade theme to support product manufacturers from developing countries.

Kateřina Rymořová, teacher: “Our children know that fair trade means fair trade and that working people will receive fair rewards for their work. We explain it to them and I think our kids understand it, and we continue to try to educate kids not only about fair trade. the food, but the important thing is don’t waste the food, don’t waste the water. Kids know that they don’t need every toy they see in the store. They don’t always need new clothes, they can wear clothes that someone wore before them, and here we try to teach children all that.”

Teachers and family members of the children also participated in the project.

Nikola Babiszová, teacher: “We started the fair trade food route, when we baked muffins, which we then took with the children to nursing homes. And we extend our deepest thanks to the parents who went to buy food with their children. “Then we got feedback that children no longer wanted this chocolate, but they wanted chocolate with the Fairtrade logo, that was our goal, so that children would see the logo and then they would continue to buy that food.”

Kindergarten is also focusing on trash and recycling this school year.

Jana Feberová (SOCDEM), Deputy Mayor: “I am very happy that the principal is enthusiastic about these things and the teachers are too. I am glad that our city of Havířov was known for this even in Prague during the evaluation ceremony, when they received the title of World School of the world. Kindergartens as well as primary and secondary schools were involved in this project, and we are pleased that City Hall Kindergarten received this title. We are happy for every extra activity that the kindergarten does, because it is a joy for the children and parents, but also for us, the founders.”
