09:05 More than a thousand Russian soldiers killed

Over the past 24 hours, 1,100 Russian soldiers were neutralized in Ukraine, bringing Moscow’s losses to nearly 567,000 killed and wounded since the start of the invasion.

Slovakia’s head of government, Robert Fico, spoke by phone on Saturday with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, among other things, about the partially suspended transit of Russian oil. Ukraine has put Russia’s Lukoil, whose oil supplies the Slovnaft refinery in Bratislava, on its sanctions list.

According to Fico, Ukraine’s sanctions against Russian companies are unreasonable and harm not only Russia but also several EU countries.

The Slovak Prime Minister announced that his country has no intention of becoming a hostage to Ukrainian-Russian relations. He warned that restricting transportation to the Slovnaft refinery could mean the cessation of supplies of diesel produced for Kiev. According to Slovak government sources, this is a tenth of Ukraine’s total fuel consumption.

Fico has been discussing the issue for several days with several cabinet members and with representatives of Hungarian petrochemical group MOL, which owns the Slovak oil refinery.
