Right from the opening montage of dog skills, including playing the piano, you get in the mood for an hour and a half of light entertainment that doesn’t involve rudeness or clumsiness. It’s just that when it comes to human heroes and the plot, it’s pretty predictable and sparse.
Dita, played sympathetically by Berenika Kohoutová, is a young woman with a longtime boyfriend (Igor Orozovič), so logically she wants to start a family. Instead, he gave her a series of reasons why they should break up, and on top of that, a dog Dita never wanted.
The fact that she wanted to get rid of him in the first place and even visited the shelter is just an obvious introduction to her falling in love with a border collie named Rapl. And since the neighbor (Štěpán Benoni) has females of the same race, it’s easy to see how things are going and to what finale this film is bound to head. However, transparency is less of an issue, as people playing with dogs and wrecking dogs playing with branded objects provide entertainment without which movies would be boring.
However, seasoned screenwriter Irena Obermann no doubt knew that this single plot wouldn’t make a movie even with a group of dog friends, so she added a few more subplots, which were nothing more than a way to add some more or less entertainment. secondary character for the film.
A pair of dog walkers, played by Taťjana Medvecká and Jiří Lábus, will delight the dog walking community, who want to get permission for a joint playground for children and dogs with the help of a petition. The world of lifestyle is represented by Dita’s affected mother in exaggerated, even irresistible performances by Veronika Žilková and her treacherous friend and boss (Hana Vagnerová). That the abandoned heart hides behind the behavior of the two is easy.
Prague’s Grébovka Park is beautiful and bright, the interior polished, the costumes accurately portraying each character’s character. Sedláček makes films that are quite different from his other works. It’s almost old world fun, so dog lovers in particular, of whom there are surely more than a few, can fill a movie theater quite well.
