Amazing NM gold for Lotta Udnes Weng: – Almost very good
Lotta Udnes Weng took gold in Friday’s 10 km freestyle during NM skiing in Gjøvik.
– It’s really cool, actually. I feel a bit strange today. I was so laid back, so I started here and don’t even remember what the course was like. Maybe that’s the recipe, one delighted Norwegian champion told NRK.
– Almost surprisingly good. Finally, he also gets results from distance, says NRK expert commentator Torgeir Bjørn of the winning streak.
Lotta Udnes Weng previously won NM gold in the sprint, and at the Tour de Ski the first World Cup win in the sprint also came. Now he too has taken it a step further, and signed up for an even further walk battle in WC.
– I thought about it when I went there, that now I should at least go to the long-distance World Cup next weekend, so it’s a step in the right direction. Then there’s the small dream of toilet distance right now, he insists.
Ragnhild Gløersen Haga took silver, 23.2 seconds behind the gold winner. The bronze went to Helene Marie Fossesholm, who slipped past Ingvild Flugstad Østberg with a strong finish. Silje Theodorsen finished fifth, while junior Milla Grosberghaugen Andreassen impressed with sixth.
Anne Kjersti Kalvå, Tiril Udnes Weng and Heidi Weng did not race today.
