Benzema hat-trick sinks Barcelona at Camp Nou – Real Madrid ready for cup final
Real Madrid won 4-0 away over Barcelona in the Spanish Cup. Thus, the capital club was set for the Spanish Cup final after 4-1 on aggregate.
There they met Osasuna, who beat Athletic Bilbao 2-1 over two games. The cup final will be played on May 6 at the Olympic Stadium in Seville.
Barcelona won the first leg of the double-leader by 1-0 when Eder Militão scored an own goal at the Santiago Bernabéu.
However, it didn’t really matter as Real Madrid mustered the extra punch and showed why they are the reigning European champions.
One minute into first-half injury time, Vinicius Junior made it 1-0 at half-time, before Karim Benzema doubled the visitors’ lead just four minutes into the second half.
The pain got worse for Barcelona when Franck Kessie fouled Vinicius in the penalty area and referee Juan Martinez Munuera pointed to the penalty mark. In the duel against Marc-André ter Stegen, Benzema appeared icy and scored his second goal of the night.
Ten minutes before full time, France’s top scorer completed his hat-trick after being played nicely by Vinicius. Thus, he stays with five goals and two assists in his last six matches in “El Clásico”. (NTB)
