Sikorski will deliver a presentation today. Opening balance and six myths about foreign policy

According to the Sejm’s work schedule, at 09.00 the Minister of Foreign Affairs will present information regarding Poland’s foreign policy tasks. After the speech of the head of diplomacy, the so-called moderate debate, the duration of which may be 240 minutes.

Before the speech The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs delivered his speech assumptions to Andrzej Duda and members of the parliament’s foreign affairs committee who were debating on Wednesday evening.

“Poland must become a strong EU country, and the diplomatic service must be rebuilt. No longer need to choose between America and the EU, we need two insurance policies.” This is how Bartosz T. Wieliński from “Gazeta Wyborcza” presented the presentation of the Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ahead of Sikorski’s speech.

According to the Polish Press Agency citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the first part of Sikorski’s speech was the “opening balance sheet”, which would assess the previous administration’s foreign policy and discuss six myths that had emerged at the time. Then he will move on to the next points – “Poland is Safe” and “Poland is strong in the EU”, which will be devoted to the security of the country and the region as well as the philosophy of Poland’s presence and activities in the European Union, which differs from Law and Justice.

“In this section, the Minister will present, among other things, a proposal to improve the decision-making process in the EU, pointing out that this issue cannot be an element that hinders the EU accession process for Ukraine or the Western Balkan countries. “The issue of migration as a controlled process will also be discussed and managed properly,” PAP reported.

The essence of Putinism in Sikorski’s speech

Sikorski will also discuss the issue of Poland in the world community and the reconstruction of Ukraine, and will also talk about the role of the Weimar Triangle and the Visegrad Group, as well as cooperation with the Baltic and Nordic countries.

According to PAP information, a significant part of the speech will be devoted to Russia.

“The minister will talk about the ‘essence of Putinism’, the country’s disinformation activities and efforts to counter their attempts to pit Poland against Ukraine. Sikorski will raise, among other things, territorial issues and tackle myths that present Poland as a country seeking to annex or gain influence in parts of Ukraine. The head of the Foreign Ministry also reminded that Russia has many opportunities to turn back from the path of aggression,” PAP reported.
