Manchester City star Erling Braut Haaland has finished playing for Norway in 2022. The forward has also confirmed he will play against Finland.
This was stated by the Norwegian Football Association (NFF) in a pers conference Friday morning.
– Erling is currently recovering, but still needs two to three weeks before he is ready to play. Because of this, he will not be coming to the Finland game. We and he hoped that he could come, but after consulting in Barcelona, together with Manchester City we concluded that this was the best solution for Erling, said national team doctor Ola Sand.
Haaland missed the first game of the season due to his injury situation. The Manchester City star has been in Barcelona while the national team has been in Dublin. His next game is after WC at the end of December.
– If you can’t do it now, there’s no reason to try again on Monday or Tuesday. Then you can take a little break that makes you 100 percent sure to be completely ready, said Ståle Solbakken during a press meet on Friday.
– There are no problems either, as I understand it. This is the 14 day building stuff I’ve been talking about, he said.
Norway won 2-1 over Ireland on Thursday night after goals from Leo Skiri Østigård and Ohi Omoijuanfo.
Norway meets Finland at the Ullevaal stadium on Sunday at 14:00.
– It’s always great to have Haaland on the pitch. Yesterday too, but neither we nor City can guarantee that he will always be there, said Solbakken.
