Tennis player Casper Ruud is opening up after some recent big losses. He will still fight hard to get a place in the season final.
Ruud withdrew from the major tournament in Paris on Tuesday after losing to Australia’s Jordan Thompson.
This defeat extended the poor record of the world’s eighth best tennis player.
– That’s difficult. It was another close game and another close loss. Unfortunately, that’s what’s happened in recent weeks and months. “There’s something I can’t bring up even though it’s really important,” Ruud told NTB after the Paris defeat.
– I was a little lacking in winning and confidence that match, to be honest I have to admit it. It kind of stands out. There are many points on the net roller and it flows a little. “I felt like I was there, knocking on the door, but I couldn’t get through,” he continued.
Despite many defeats, Ruud is still fighting to qualify for the ATP finals in Turin. After Paris, there is only one tournament left before the final.
Ruud could be ready for Turin if his rivals fail in Paris, but the Norwegian is prepared that he may have to be in action at Metz next week to prove himself.
– Now the next few days are going to be fun. I’ll go home, breathe and relax. If I have to go to Metz, I will go there. If you have to perform well there to get to Turin, then you have to perform. It’s part of the game, but you wish you didn’t have to go there, that you qualified without having to go there. “I’m prepared to most likely have to travel to Metz,” Ruud concluded.
