Kristoffersen opened up after the angry NRK interview – fearing a fatal accident
Only three weeks have passed since several environmental activists entered the finish area of the slalom race in Gurgl. An angry Henrik Kristoffersen responded to them with insults and throwing snowballs before saying the following directly to NRK:
– You idiots, they ruined the race. We won’t get any of that. They will leave. This should have consequences.
On Thursday evening, he met the press for the first time after the incident in Austria.
– There’s not much more to say besides what I said there. Many comments have been written. I don’t have anything more to say about it. Then no one else needs to ask that, Kristoffersen told the press.
But he admitted to having seen pictures of the target area in Gurgl afterwards.
– It’s hard not to do this, he said.
When TV 2 asked him what he thought about environmental issues, he answered:
– I might say on Gurgl that I don’t have a problem with people getting involved in climate, but they have to do it through the right channels. I don’t have anything more to say about it. I have a 4.5 month old son to concentrate on, and skiing. I will concentrate on that going forward. Then someone else can take over.
– I feel that in my career I have said what I needed to say. To end this issue: This is a lot about security. If you stretch the elastic too far and suddenly there is someone in the way when a giant slalom racer comes along at 90 kilometers per hour… Or super-G at 120 or downhill at 130 plus. Then we talk about fatal accidents. When people drag it further and further, you have to put your foot down before you do that.
