The Biathlon World Cup will be held, and the police will act mainly as a precaution

The four-day sports competition, which according to the organizers will be participated in by athletes from various countries, is included in the ranks of this year’s prestigious sporting events throughout the Czech Republic. The organizers expect the participation of several tens of thousands of spectators. Their arrival, departure and stay in Nové Město na Moravě and its surroundings will place high demands not only on the organization itself, but especially for ensuring the safety and smooth running of road traffic and ensuring public order.

Therefore, the Regional Police Directorate of the Vysočina region has prepared adequate security measures in cooperation with the organizers of the event. Law enforcement, traffic, foreign and criminal police officers from the Vysočina Regional Police Directorate, as well as police officers from several special national units – pyrotechnic services, aviation services – will maintain security and public order in Nové Město na Moravá for the entire duration of the World Cup and its surroundings. .

“From our point of view, this is the most important sporting event in our region this year due to its scope and expected number of visitors. As part of the security measures put in place, for which a sufficient number of police officers will be deployed, we will participate in ensuring public order and to prevent crimes and misdemeanors from occurring. Our priority is to protect the life, health and property of citizens from potential criminals. When preparing security measures, we must evaluate all possible risks not only related to the location where the event will take place, but also related with the expected high number of participants and visitors, among whom there will also be many foreigners,” said the Brigadier. gene. M.Sc. Miloš Trojánek, Director of the Regional Police Directorate of the Vysočina Region.

All athletes, their implementation teams, as well as spectators, must travel to the Vysočina Arena in Nové Město na Moravá on the individual competition day and then park their vehicles, which will place very high demands especially on the implementation of effective transport measures. In collaboration with the event organizers, some basic traffic restrictions were proposed around Nové Město na Morava. All roads subject to the restrictions will be marked with traffic signs so drivers can find their way at the right time. A marked parking area is also prepared and a shuttle service is provided for World Cup visitors.

The police patrol will monitor the flow of traffic for four days and, if necessary, will direct traffic. Traffic police officers will be present during the event on all important roads leading to the Novoměstsk area. Police officers urge all visitors to heed the warnings from the organisers, who advise all visitors to plan their arrival around Nové Město na Morava with sufficient time in advance. The large number of visitors who will come to Novoměstsko by tourist buses or private vehicles will significantly reduce the capacity and serviceability of the road compared to the normal period. In addition, it is necessary to take into account the possible complications that the current weather conditions can cause.

Upon arrival at Nové Město na Moravě, there will also be a shuttle bus that will transport spectators from the detention parking lot, fan buses, team vehicles, invited guests, journalists, supply vehicles and organizers. For this reason, queues can also form on the highway, which then increase the usual travel time. Therefore, all drivers must pay attention to the police patrol instructions to avoid unnecessary traffic complications.

Foot and motorized patrols will carry out patrol services mainly in Nové Město na Moravě and its surroundings. Police officers will primarily perform tasks in the area of protecting the safety of persons and property and will participate in ensuring public and local order to prevent violations and crimes from occurring. An important task of the foot and motorized patrols is to monitor the situation in the arrival and departure lanes of supporters.

Our main goal is to ensure public order in the area and protect residents’ property from potential criminals. In the same way, foot patrols and plainclothes police will act as a deterrent with respect to the possibility of pickpocketing. We expect higher movement of people not only on highways, but also at bus and train stations.” added cabbage. M.Sc. Karel Sehnal, security commander.

We rely on systematic inspection of vehicles and people, especially around parking lots and accommodation facilities. Patrols will also focus on checking drivers by focusing on driving a motorized vehicle under the influence of alcohol or other addictive substances. In case of detection of illegal behavior, one should expect appropriate sanctions. A large number of athletes and spectators will use the accommodation facilities around Nové Město. Police patrols will also go around so that public order is not disturbed and there are no incidents that affect the health and property of local residents.

All visitors entering Vysočina Arena are advised to take increased security measures, which require careful checks upon entry. For this reason, delays on entry should be expected, and it is therefore important to arrive with sufficient time in advance and not leave arrivals until the last minute.

“We urge all visitors to first familiarize themselves with the visitor regulations, namely the rules for entering the arena, and to observe these visitor regulations, which regulate the rules for the entry of visitors and their behavior inside. Therefore, do not bring any object into the sports area that is expressly prohibited by the visitor rules. This is for example dangerous objects, including fireworks, knives and other objects listed in the visit regulations,” added the commander of the security measure in conclusion, Col. M.Sc. Karel Sehnal.
