The Brno16 Short Film Festival will feature news from around the world

The show has been going on non-stop since 1960. “In a selection that will be judged by an international jury, student jury and festival goers, films from around the world will compete. However, Czech and Slovak films will also be represented, namely in the eskoslovenská 16 competition,” Jana Janulíková, director of the city organization TIC Brno, said of the Brno16 program.

Organizers will announce the results of both competitions on Saturday, October 15 at the Art theater. But the festival doesn’t end with an announcement. On Sundays, those who are interested will see the winning block and other competition films.

In addition to the competition section, the festival will also offer Oscar-nominated short films, experimental bands, discussion panels and programs for children. The new feature is a separate day dedicated to film professionals. “This year, as part of the workshop, we will focus on project financing and the effect of local financial support on filmmaking. We are collaborating on this program with the Association of Audiovisual Producers and the South Moravian Film Fund,” said Ivana Košuličová, head of the Brno Film Office.

Accreditations can be purchased online at www.brno16.cz or at the Art cinema box office. Tickets for individual blocks will go on sale immediately prior to screenings at both festival locations.
