The facade of the office building is covered with greenery and crossed by slides for employees

Who does not know the joy that overwhelms a person at the end of the working day. Pack your bags, put on your clothes and – go home! In a newly renovated office building in Chengdu, capital of China’s Sichuan province, employees there will soon have an extra reason to be happy at the end of a job.

They can start their return journey down the slide, whose tubes criss-cross and intertwine in various ways down the front side of the building.

An attentive passer-by could count a total of eleven sections, the longest of which stretches over three stories and takes the form of a spiral sled.

As the South China Morning Post website reminds us, the six-story building was built in 1982 and even then it functioned as an administrative office.

However, it has recently been renovated, with architect Chchien I in charge of the work. It was his team who came up with the slide idea to help employees “stay forever young at heart” and “enjoy more fun” in their jobs.

For those who don’t mind heights, there are also various viewing platforms and semi-circular glass walkways.

Even though the slide is not operational yet, this building has become a hit on social media.

The glass walkway will not be possible for everyone…

As explained by the architects, the slide is still in the testing phase. However, around the boarding area there are already arrival signs with customary instructions that you are only allowed to ride while sitting, it is forbidden to climb tubes, etc.

To increase safety, pads and shields should be added at the exit.

Tips and trends

Although the slide is not operational yet, the building has become a star on Xiaohongshu (China’s equivalent of Instagram), with people enthusiastically sharing and commenting on photos of its façade.

“This is sure to be a great way to de-stress after a long day at work,” commented one user, for example. “My childhood dream has finally come true – to go around the service on a slide. I just wonder if people have to queue there too,” mused another.
