Stenshorne advanced to 4th in the Barcelona sprint race
Martinius Stenshorne had a good sprint race in Formula 3 in Barcelona and finished in 4th place.
Thus, the 18 year old racer from Hokksund won points in the F3 rankings for the second time this season. Stenshorne won a sprint race in Melbourne in March, but has since struggled to make an impact in the race.
In Barcelona on Saturday, he started with a best starting slot of sixth after finishing seventh in qualifying. He advanced to 5th on the third lap after a dramatic situation in which Trident rider Semi Meguetounif crashed into teammate Santiago Ramos.
The Barcelona circuit is not the easiest circuit to overtake, but Stenshorne made a brilliant maneuver on lap 10 which moved him up to 4th place at the expense of Laurens van Hoepen.
Later, the Norwegian racer was chasing the podium, but towards the end everything died down after an accident between Gabriele Mini and Sebastian Montoya on the 18th lap. The safety car was out for the rest of the race.
It was a popular home win for Mari Boya ahead of Alexander Dunne and Oliver Göthe.
Towards the end of the race, it was also announced that a total of eight drivers would be questioned for false starts due to the safety car being required to enter. Stenshorne was not among them.
On Sunday, the Norwegian will start from seventh position in the main race at the Spanish track. (© NTB)
