The German government attaches great importance to the memorial of the victims of German crimes in Poland, and assumes responsibility for them. This was revealed among other things by Plans to make a memorial and a meeting place with Poland in Berlin confirmed in the coalition agreement, the German Foreign Ministry notified the PAP when asked to commemorate the victims of the Warsaw Uprising.

On August 1, representatives of the German diplomatic mission in Poland will take part in the 78th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising at memorial sites in Warsaw, Kraków, Wrocław and Gdańsk.
The day before, on Sunday, July 31, German Ambassador Thomas Bagger will participate in the mass and appeal of the fallen at the Warsaw Uprising Monument. He would lay a wreath there, as the next day at the Warsaw Rebel Cemetery in Wola.

In addition, on August 1, embassy representatives will take part in many other ceremonies in Warsaw, including the 78th anniversary of the capture of the German gendarmerie station, called Nordwache by soldiers from the Chrobry 1 battalion, a ceremony at the Monument to the Army Home and the Polish Underground, commemorating the capture of the “Gęsiówka” camp by the “Zośka” battalion. Also in other Polish cities, representatives of German diplomatic missions will take part in the official celebrations of the Warsaw Uprising.
The Consul General in Kraków, Michael Gross, at the invitation of Małopolska Voivode, will participate in the celebrations in Kraków. There, the consul would take part in a changing of the guard ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and would lay a wreath.
Every year, the German Consulate General in Gdask commemorates the Warsaw Uprising at the invitation of the city authorities of Gdask. Consul General Kornelia Pieper will lay a wreath at the Monument to the Polish Underground State and Army House in Targ Rakowy.
In Wrocław, at the invitation of the voivode, representatives of the German Consulate General in Wrocław will take part in a memorial service at the Witold Pilecki monument, where they will also lay wreaths.
