According to information from “Wyborcza”, the funds transferred to Nowe Polskie Media, which runs the wRealu24 portal, are theoretically intended to serve the Institute for the Fight Against Anti-Polonism. Although the Ministry of Justice would not reveal the amount, the newspaper obtained the contract – it shows that the amount exceeds PLN 3.5 million, of which more than half a million must be paid in 2020 and a little over a million per year in 2021. -2023 .
In fact, veterans foundations are used as a means to funnel money to right-wing sites. This institution was officially founded in 2020, and the beneficiary who will establish this institution is the Polish Underground State Foundation.
The wRealu24 portal associated with this activity promotes extreme views. Nonetheless, Zbigniew Ziobro’s team sympathizes with the site, which was blocked in 2022 by the Homeland Security Agency on charges of pro-Russian propaganda. Although the decision was reversed a year later, wRealu24’s YouTube channel remains blocked to this day.
PLN 3.5 million for lawsuits, conferences and videos
The PLN 3.5 million transferred to the veterans foundation will be used for “advertising and promotional activities (print publications, organizing conferences, advertising on social media, video reports) to increase recognition of both the Institute and the Foundation itself.”
As explained by “Wyborcza”, the agency’s activities are limited to a few lawsuits, conferences with the participation of right-wing journalists and videos broadcast on the wRealu24 website.
In December 2022 – due to changes in the authority of the World Home Army Association, which was supposed to supervise the foundation – the contract between the Ministry of Justice and the Polish Underground State Foundation to finance the Institute for the Suppression of Anti-Polonism was terminated.
“The institute turned out to be virtual”
— The brazenness of this action is shocking, said Michał Szczerba, a politician from the Civic Coalition.
— The agreement between the Ministry of Justice and the Polish Underground State Foundation is structured in such a way that: de facto relating to the foundation’s transfer of PLN 1 million per year to the company Nowe Polskie Media, which runs the wRealu24 portal, for the so-called fight against anti-Polonism – MichaÅ‚ Szczerba told “Wyborcza”.
— This institution turned out to be virtual. The action is largely simulated and fictional. The website, whose existence has been confirmed by the ministry, is currently no longer operational. PLN 2 million has been transferred, most of it to Roli, he added.
