How can an ancient monster that lives in the middle of a hollow earth return to the surface? That’s what Apple’s new series will reveal – at least from the perspective of the Monarch organization, whose original goal was to investigate Godzilla’s hidden kingdom precisely to prevent the two worlds from colliding. But as we know from several films from the Warner Bros. monster universe, it wasn’t very successful.

King: Legacy of the Monsters follows two storylines, one set in the 1950s and the other following the events of the first Godzilla in 2014, when the giant lizard left San Francisco in ruins’ wake. The current story will introduce viewers to a pair of siblings following the family history related to the Monarch organization and its origins.

During their search, the heroes of the series discover the personality of military officer Lee Shaw, who plays an important role in the story of how the influence of the secret world of the Titans – Godzilla and other ancient giant beasts – flows across generations. With Shaw we will meet in the past and present. His two different old forms were given the faces of actor Wyatt Russell and his father Kurt Russell. Anders Holm, Elisa Lasowski, Anna Sawai and more will also appear in the first ten episodes of the series.

The first reviews were mostly positive, on the one hand praising the audiovisual treatment with attractive sets and great effects, on the other hand the personal drama between the characters. Labels like “best franchise expansion scenario” or “the bottom line is highly entertaining and humanly appealing” will fail. On streaming services Apple TV+ was released today the first three episodes of the series, more will be added each week.

Which drives the world of film and television

The first review praised Napoleon

It will be in theaters next week Napoleon from Ridley Scott, the historical blockbuster that follows the rise and fall of one of the most famous warlords ever. The first foreign reviews especially appreciated the depiction of battle scenes, but also the romantic lines between Napoleon and his wife Joséphine. And a very reckless concept. More info.
