The new London Comics Museum brings to mind the world of cartoon stories

The museum is located in the residential district of Fitzrovia in London at 63 Wells Street. As per the title of The Guardian, the interior design turns into a world of cartoon graphics and three-dimensional space full of humor and fun. Neon bubbles attract visitors to the tour. There are caricatures of iconic characters dating back more than the last century.

The creator of this unusual space is London-based Sam Jacob Studio, founded in 2014 and dedicated to architecture and design. Its clients include a number of cultural institutions.

The stairs can be seen through the attractively designed glass.

The interior of the museum can be seen through fragments of windows in the bubble-shaped walls with jagged edges. The shop at the museum has a counter made out of a giant “Hello” sign.

The space is defined by graphic wall treatments that give the impression of clouds, trees, even water droplets, as if the space was created with mere drawings.

At first glance, the museum door looks like it was just drawn on paper.

The gallery is entered through picture doors that sometimes seem too big, sometimes too small. There is a fake library with a secret door, which is known to be a typical part of many criminals’ apartments and homes.

Although the room looks cute, it is clearly organized. The interior design is inspired by cartoon box frames. The arrangement allows the creation of different spatial variations for different types of exhibitions and events.

The painted bookshelf contains brightly colored lighting elements.

The museum was founded by a group of cartoonists, collectors and enthusiasts in 2006. The Cartoon Museum preserves the best of British cartoons, comics and animation. More than 6,000 collections are represented in the archives, which were important for the creation of the national museum, and which represent the work of more than 300 artists.

“Moving to a permanent home near Oxford Street is very exciting for The Cartoon Museum. Museum collections are an important part of British heritage. Sam Jacob Studio has created a lively, creative and fun space. Our goal is always for people to leave the museum happier than when they arrived. So we hope to further revitalize London’s cultural landscape,” said Oliver Preston, Chairman of the Cartoon Museum.

This exhibition also displays various comic props and characters specially created to attract visitors.

“I have always been interested in the relationship between drawing and architecture. I love exploring the ways in which ideas on paper can be graphically translated into physical space and made into real objects. It’s really fun,” said writer Sam Jacob.
