Prague – Government offices and several ministries will open their doors to visitors today on Czech Statehood Day. In Prague’s Malá Strana, one can see the Straka Academy, the seat of the government, and the Nostic Palace, the seat of the Ministry of Culture. Guided tours are also available for those interested in the historic buildings of the Ministry of Agriculture in Těšnov and Malá Strana, where they can see behind the scenes of the Ministry of Finance and the interesting locations of the former monasteries of the Discalced Carmelites and the Virgin of England. Prague’s sanitary station also joined the open day, inviting visitors to its building, known since the Middle Ages as Stará rychta, on Rytířská street.

Currently, the public can also see spaces that are not usually accessible to the public in the ministry’s historic building agriculture, designed by architect František Roith. The guided tour will take them to the former ministerial representative’s apartment, state secretary’s office, meeting room or ministerial office, and they will also learn something about the history of the building, which was the first building in Prague to be built using cast concrete. .

During a ministry tour finance the public can view exhibitions of past and present customs as well as exhibitions of the Printing of State Valuables, and they can also print commemorative tablets on printing presses from the mid-19th century. This event also includes lectures on financial literacy and presentations of the work of the Directorate General of Finance, the State Representative Office for Property, the Financial Arbitrator and the Joint Service Center State Treasury.
