The 16th edition of the Street Art Festival, an exhibition of contemporary street art, represented by Czech and international names in the field, ended this week in Olomouc. The theme of this year’s edition, Everyday Chronicles, refers to František Palacký and his history of everyday life.

Since around mid-August, seven areas have been artistically realized, including, for example, the Farmak building, the Palacký University dormitory, the boiler room and the playground.
“This year was a real success. More than ever, we felt the community nature of the event. For example, several times it happened that an old woman from the estate came up to the artist and brought him coffee or bread. Or he asked for one of his sprays, he could fix the room a cracking shower at home,” said festival director Romana Junkerová with a smile.

During the festival, 1,200 kilograms of paint and 716 sprays were used. Fourteen artists from five European countries took part in the overall program, and more than 300 children took part in workshops during the summer alone, including schools such as Čajkovski Gymnasium, Štursova Trade and Service Vocational School, Miloslav Stibor Primary Arts School and Secondary School Moravia.
This cultural event was also held on the occasion of the 450th anniversary of the founding of Palacký University and other events such as the university’s European Heritage Days or Meet UP.
