The large-capacity vaccination center in building D of the Regional Office in Liberec will end operations at the end of March. Interest in vaccination is declining, so a smaller space is sufficient. Regional Hospital Liberec, which operates it, will move the center into place, said Regional Advisor for Health Vladimír Richter (ODS). Due to few enthusiasts, the vaccination center of Jablonec Hospital has been operating since February 2.
According to Richter, the vaccination center at the Municipal Theater in Nový Bor will end on February 28. “About 40 people a week are thought to be there, and the traffic is unstable. Other centers are unlikely to be closed, but they are limiting the days they are vaccinated.” he added. Interest in vaccination in the Liberec region is declining; In the past seven days, health professionals in the region have administered 5,516 doses of the vaccine, which is about 40 percent lower than the week before. Three-quarters of those vaccinated come for a booster dose. In December, more than 20,000 people were vaccinated a week in the region.
The demand for vaccination in the largest center, which is next to the regional office, also decreased significantly. While about 5,500 people were vaccinated there every week at the start of the year, there have only been 2,254 in the last seven days. Therefore, according to Richter, the center will gradually reduce weekend traffic. On Sundays, they will not be vaccinated from February 13, and in early March, they will also stop vaccinating there on Saturdays and will only keep traffic on weekdays.
They started vaccinating at the regional office in the large-capacity center last February, and since then paramedics have administered nearly 221,000 doses of the vaccine, which is nearly a third of all doses administered to date across the Liberec region. There are a total of 12 large capacity vaccination centers in the region, but they currently only provide booster doses in hospitals in Turnov and Frýdlant. Doctors are also vaccinated. Nearly 266,500 people are fully vaccinated in the region, which is about 60 percent of the 442,160 population. Nearly 155,000 of them have received booster doses.
