He allegedly worked there as a broker and believed that he could transfer the abilities and skills that made him the most successful poker player in the world to his new profession.
The former poker player admitted that card games had become more work than fun in recent years and he felt he needed a change. However, he is said to be getting used to his new job, which he described as “very difficult”. However, he is determined to continue learning and become an asset to the company as time goes by.
According to The Economic Times, the fact that Bridgewater Associates lured Selbstova into its fold is not surprising. Large hedge funds use unconventional methods and try to recruit interesting figures whose talents can help them earn higher profits.

During his twelve-year poker career, this American player earned 11.8 million dollars (almost a quarter of a billion crowns) and thus became the most successful player in the world. In the best period between 2010 and 2015, according to data from the Hendon Mob Poker Database, he earned at least 800 thousand dollars (almost 17 million crowns) annually.
“Poker has given me a lot in 12 years. It is intellectually challenging, interesting, fun and very satisfying. Thanks to poker, I can travel to places I wouldn’t normally go. And I also made strong friendships with people from all over the world,” Selbstová wrote on her Facebook.
