The new owners wanted to convert a ground floor house with a usable area of 370 m² and styled in a traditional family residence into an open space furnished in a minimalist, modern and sophisticated style. His home was supposed to be a youth nest where he could hang out with his friends.
“We turned the main part of the interior – the kitchen, living room and playroom – into one open space, from which there are views of the terrace and the large swimming pool with jacuzzi, fireplace and seating area,” explains interior designer and founder of Design studio Brana Helena Branaova.
A color palette of black, gray and blue forms the backbone of the style, fulfilling the masculine character and simplicity of this home’s solution. High ceilings, luxurious European furniture and lighting add to the home’s appeal.
The designer chose a concrete floor that is practical in terms of maintenance, but creates a feeling of coldness. Hence, in contrast to that, she chose a brown wardrobe, which warmed up the interior instead.
He and his team use another proven contrast when furnishing interiors, refreshing the simple style with luxurious materials, such as Emperador Dark marble or black-stained massive oak.
The young owner also decided he wanted a pool table, not a dining table. So the designer devised a custom made sculptural pool table in shades of black and walls to match, somewhat minimalistic with black glass shelves and cue holders in the shape of designer palms. The wall next to the pool table is then covered with a modern abstract patterned wallpaper reminiscent of a fresco in a subtle combination of gray and white.
The client’s special wish was a “sweet shop,” or a room where she could watch sports broadcasts surrounded by her favorite candies. The designer went into such detail that, as part of this stylish TV room, he made candies bearing the name of American basketball player Kobe Bryant, who was the client’s favorite athlete and lived not far from him.
The bedroom is furnished in a completely minimalist style, which, thanks to various shades of gray combined with white and details from dark blue to kerosene tones, has a calming effect.
