During Thursday’s European Political Community Summit in Prague, Ukraine proposed changing the name of this format to the European Peace Community, informed Ihor Zhovkva, adviser to the President of Ukraine on international affairs, in an interview for the European portal Pravda.

– We propose the name of the European Peace Community. The word “peace” in this concept is not only peace as such, but also applies to all areas: economics, economic security and military security, adviser Volodymyr Zelensky.

Zhovkva points out that this is an understanding of the European meeting format proposed by President Zelensky during his online address to the European Political Community. – If as a result this European Peace Community is agreed, then such a format will make sense – he added.

The European Political Community is the brainchild of French President Emmanuel Macron. The creation of this body was approved by EU leaders at the European Council meeting in June. The new structure is to provide a platform for political coordination for the EU and the rest of the European continent.

In addition to the 27 Member States of the European Union, Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Iceland, Kosovo, Liechtenstein, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia, Switzerland, Turkey were invited to participate in the first meeting of the European Political Community of Ukraine and Great Britain. Russia and Belarus have not yet received an invitation.
