Substitute Ødegaard secured a draw against Chelsea
Arsenal battled for a draw after trailing by two goals for long against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The match ended 2-2.
Martin Ødegaard was substituted in the 78th minute, just after Declan Rice had provided a pass for Arsenal. Ødegaard’s substitute, Leandro Trossard finally secured a 2-2 score and a draw.
Chelsea took the lead after 15 minutes. After a VAR check, the home team received a penalty due to a handball situation. Cole Palmer rolled it to the left, with the Arsenal keeper moving in the wrong direction.
The home team then extended their lead to 2-0 shortly after the break, when a lob from Mykhajlo Mudryk found the back of the net.
In the last 20 minutes of the match, Arsenal appeared extra, first in Rice who reduced the position to 2-1. And after scoring a goal, Ødegaard was replaced by Trossard. He took his first shot at the ball and made it 2-2 five minutes before normal time.
Arsenal are now in second place in the standings before the round is over, with the same number of points as Manchester City. The latter won their game against Brighton on Saturday afternoon, while Erling Braut Haaland ended his goal drought.
Chelsea is in ninth place.
