As we see almost every day – increased access to information leads to increased ignorance and passivity towards the dangers that threaten us. How else can we explain the low turnout of Poles in the last election, when we know that the EU wants to protect us from the belly (in vitro meat) to the roof, or rather, the direction of development?
In the ongoing puzzle of factions and alliances in the new European Parliament, a new, though perhaps old, “power group” will emerge and interpret the treaties according to the guidelines of the most influential commissioners and interest groups. Let’s see what role Donald Tusk will play in this chess match in Brussels, as he and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will negotiate, on behalf of the People’s Party, the names of the four most important commissioners, who will determine the EU’s action plan for the next five years.
It is important to elect a new President of the European Parliament, President of the European Commission, President of the European Council and High Representative for Foreign Policy. Knowing the momentum of Tusk in dismantling our country, let’s hope that we will lose the last vestiges of our ability to influence the Brussels machine. The European Socialists, the second largest faction in the EP, appointed Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz as negotiators for the talks on the division of the most important “benches”.
Interestingly, there is little talk about the fact that Spain is the only major EU country that played unfairly on the day of the European Parliament elections, since it did not require a minimum voting threshold of 5%, although Brussels has been demanding it for all member states with more than 35 members since 2018. Madrid thus gave the opportunity to win seats in the European Parliament to candidates from exotic parties, such as the strange new populist formation in Spain “Se acabó la fiesta” (End of the party!), which took 3 seats from the VOX party. If Spain had followed the 5% rule, only the first 3 political parties would have “captured” it and VOX itself would have had a stronger representation (according to calculations, it would have had at least 9 MEPs instead of the 6 present). As usual, the Spanish government is in no hurry to explain why it does not want to adapt its procedures to those generally accepted in the EU, but it is known that it has imposed a minimum threshold of 5%. The vote would exclude the long-standing allies and coalition partners of the left and far-left, namely Spain’s separatist parties, from the European Parliament.
The news that Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk will participate in negotiations with the Spanish Prime Minister and the German Chancellor brings a pitying smile to all of us – Europeans. What is the benefit of Tusk in “restoring the rule of law” in Poland? Unfortunately, we all experienced it ourselves. What is the benefit of Scholz from the fact that he is facing competition from the AfD extremists at an exponential rate? We think so too. However, the appointment of the still existing chief secretary of the global Left International: Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez (who yesterday declared a de facto left-wing dictatorship on the Venezuelan model) as the negotiator of the most important position in the EU is simply comical. The entire mainstream European press writes about the indictment of his wife, Begoña Gómez, and her brother, David Sánchez, for influence peddling and corruption, because even the current “European elite” is not used to hearing about such shameful manifestations of corruption practices in the immediate family of one person in the state and in his immediate party environment.
But: “Cheer up, politicians, there is no hell” and this is how Prime Minister Sanchez was rewarded with the role of negotiator at the EU summit. It is true that yesterday he issued a 15-day ultimatum to the largest opposition party, the Popular Party, threatening that they would take part in renewing the panel of judges of the Spanish National Council of the Judiciary or his government would take care of the nomination of judges itself, but no one in Europe is worried about the systematic attack on the justice system by the left-wing prime minister there.
By looking at the territory of Poland and Spain, we can come to the conclusion that what pleases the European socialists and their supporters from the EPP is always legitimate, even if it is an open violation of the country’s Constitution and good political etiquette.
Therefore, let us keep an eye on the negotiations involving leaders with “impeccable” reputations in the EU such as Sanchez, Scholz and Tusk.
