Marianne Fikseth, 33, has experienced other struggles in her adult life. She suffers from an eating disorder. For the last 10 years he has been ill – and he is still undergoing treatment in Bodø.

– The best medicine

But with expert help from her sister and “WC sponsor” Grethe (30), Marianne has started a two-week break from treatment.

– This is a serious illness, but I think it will be fine. Being here during the WC is the best medicine in the world, says Marianne – who describes herself and her sister as sports nuts.

They will actually see all the practices during the WC, and have bought the most expensive tickets every day. Evenings were spent comfortably at the Grand Hotell.

– Only the best is good enough. In the morning we take the course all the way to Holmenkollen, then we stay here until the end, then there is a medal presentation ceremony in the middle. There won’t be much time for shopping, said younger sister Grethe.

Northug Digger

The pair have also traveled south in the past to watch major sporting events – including last year’s World Cup trials and international football and handball matches.

– We have never been to the South, this is not for us. We felt most comfortable wearing jackets, the two sisters grinned.

The favorites were Petter Northug and Marit Bjørgen, and thus both got a dream start on their dream journey to the WC. As is known, Bjørgen won gold, while Northug won silver, in the sprint number on the first day of the WC.

– I like Northug. He’s the best in the world, and he dares to say what he thinks, says Marianne.
