In the background, images of explosions, tenement collapses, fires, and war damage. And sound alarm siren announce impending danger. Finally, a blackboard with the slogan: “#bezprzedawNIEnia”. On September 1, Jarosław Kaczyński announced that Poland would demand compensation from Germany for the damage caused during World War II. – This is our goal, which is part of the whole concept of restoring normality when it comes to the functioning of the Polish state – said Kaczyński. The presented report on war reparations calculated Poland’s losses in excess of PLN 6 billion 220 billion.

The decisive vote on reparations came from Berlin. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that the issue of reparations for the damage caused to Poland during World War II had been “resolved”. – I can emphasize, like all previous federal governments, that this issue is finally resolved in international law – said Chancellor Scholz in an interview with the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung” (quoted from the PAP).
