Daniel Kawczynski, a British MP of Polish origin, told PAP he had spoken to lawyers about the possibility of bringing individual lawsuits by Poles living in Great Britain who suffered during World War II against German authorities.

As he explains, along with his assistants and lawyers, he is now starting to look for people who have solid grounds to make a claim and want to treat it as a kind of pilot process aimed at paving the way for others.
I fear that the Polish government has been too slow in demanding war reparations from Germany, and that time is running out dramatically. Therefore, we would like to investigate the possibility of a Polish citizen or a citizen of Polish origin residing in the United Kingdom bringing personal lawsuits against the German authorities for damages suffered during World War II.
– said Kawczynski.
“You have to find another way.”
Last week, in an interview with PAP, British lawmakers also argued that due to the fact that Germany does not want to talk about war reparations, Poland should sue them before an international tribunal.
If negotiations fail, other means must be sought and I would strongly encourage the Polish government to sue Germany in an international tribunal.
– he said, adding that whether and how quickly this issue will be resolved largely depends on whether the Polish government will allocate sufficient funds for litigation.
