“Conspiracy theories take on a life of their own. It is a question of what is known to the public and what is known outside the public. Much of that information remains secret to this day. It touches on the security of the country,” political scientist Vladimíra Dvořáková mirrors in the program Jak to vidí. …
Attack on the Pentagon
“The attack on the Pentagon? We could hardly have assumed that we would get a detailed description of how, what was affected, which places were hit, how the system worked immediately after the attack. It’s still a security issue.”
It’s the fact that things haven’t come to light even after 20 years that fuels conspiracy theories. “Maybe a document in 50 or 100 years will reveal the whole truth. Until it’s not a sensitive topic in terms of security.”
Saudi Arabia’s role
And what surprised him about the incident? “We know that at that time there was also a delegation from Saudi Arabia who was allowed to leave a very short time after the attack. But also the fact that George W. Bush had quite a bit of contact with Saudi Arabia.”
“And frankly, Saudi Arabia remains a partner of the US and the Western world, despite this country’s deeply troubled human rights relationship,” recalls Dvořáková.
