Widzew will have to try hard to beat the newcomer from Niepołomice.
Widzew Lodz – Niepołomice Forest. Connection
Puszcza was the last newcomer to play their match during the first league round. The previous meeting of the teams that competed with the team from Niepołomice behind the Eksporlasa a few months ago could give Tomasz Tułacz’s team food for thought. Ruch lost their match, dominated by Zagłębie Lubin. The same thing happened with ŁKS in the rivalry with Legia. Puszcza doesn’t want to be a victim again for a team that is more experienced at the highest level.
Play smart
Therefore, in the meeting in Łódź with Widzew, the visiting team from Malopolska did not wait for the opponent’s move. Already in the 9th minute they took the lead, thanks to a clever set piece. Artur Siemaszko received a short pass, went inside along the line of the penalty area and delivered a very precise shot. The ball hit Henrich Ravas’ goal window.
When it looked as if Puszcza was getting closer to another goal, creating dangerous situations from time to time under the Widzew penalty area, the hosts woke up. They managed to equalize before the break. Lodz’s players counterattacked quickly down the right side of the field. Jordi Sanchez received the cross, who gently played the ball to Fran Alvarez. The latter dotted the “i”, batted confidently, leaving Kewin Komar without the slightest chance of successful intervention.
On the good side
The Spanish striker joined the team in the summer transfer window and has already shown the bright side in his first game. Not only was he on the scoresheet, but before switching sides he was the brightest figure in a Widzew shirt.
Although Forest couldn’t be accused of a lack of commitment, over time the differences in the skills of the players began to show. In the second half, Widzew really started to dominate, while the Niepołomice team’s only offensive idea was the use of set pieces. 10 minutes after the break, the hosts took the lead, and a goal was scored by Patryk Stępiński, capping off a great play by Bartłomiej Pawłowski.

Nonetheless, Forest would not give up. Coach Tułacz made all possible changes, Jordan Majchrzak also entered the last quarter of the match, who had a great chance to score just after checking in on the field. However, in a one-on-one situation, he hit the post. The effort was of little use, as moments later, in stoppage time, Andrejs Ciganiks added to Widzew’s lead. Although Puszcza responded, he scored a contact goal, but there was no time for a draw.
