Under the auspices of the sports club in Stranik, the local section of Nové Jičín, the dance group TST has been operating for nine years, has 120 members, children of all ages, who have achieved a number of successes in Czech. Republic and at the world championships, for example this year in Budapest.
Tereza Pernická, head of TST SK Straník – Nový Jičín: “This year, we are very excited to be participating in the Dance Group of the Year, where our children won first place in a great competition. In addition, we are very happy to participate in the World Championships in Hungary in the street dance category, and our eldest daughter won second place.”
With this, the dance group surpassed its biggest success to date, which was last year’s world bronze.
Tereza Pernická, head of TST SK Straník – Nový Jičín: “It becomes more and more difficult every year. Last year we competed with the La casa de papel choreography at the world championships where we finished in 3rd place. And this year we managed to take it a step further and move up to second place.”
Štěpánka Hubová, TST SK Stranik – Nový Jičín: “The nerves are incredible, as in all competitions, but probably the biggest there is. We trust each other…, but for me personally, we don’t really think about it, because the competition is huge.
David Krutílek, TST SK Stranik – Nový Jičín: “I was tutored by two friends in first grade, when they told me they needed a boy for the dance group and somehow they persuaded me to join and I started. What I like about this is how we are getting better every year and getting closer to our goals and dreams.”
TST’s successful choreography is focused on street performances, so they always try to incorporate stories into their dances. Right now, let’s say the topic is baseball, boxing, or lineups for the popular series Stranger Things.
Beáta Plešková, TST SK Stranik – Nový Jičín: “Mom brought me here. I’ve been dancing elsewhere, and I stopped enjoying it, so I went to TST. We have the best coaches we can have, camps and all.”
Anna Velartová, TST SK Stranik – Nový Jičín: “I’ve been dancing like that since I was three years old, we can dance according to ourselves and he can do street dance and we have good choreography.”
More and more children want to dance at TST, and sports club facilities in Stranik are inadequate. He went to the halls at Hostašovice to practice.
Tereza Pernická, chairman of TST SK Straník – Nový Jičín: “Just because of how many kids we have, we need that time from Monday to Friday, every evening, every night, and it’s hard to find a place where you can stay like that. However, we are happy where we are at the moment and the Sportovní Straník club and the city of Nový Jičín support us.”
The dance group accepts new members through talent auditions that take place in July and August.
